It’s possible the weirdest conversation I’ve ever had in life was with my youngest brother. He was in his late teens and building a life. I was back in Iowa and we were watching TV. We had an uncomfortable argument about something we were watching. It was awkward. I asked him to explain Brittany Spears. He laughed at me as an answer because who wants to explain Brittany Spears to your sister? I’m still not sure if it was a strategic move or if I was being serious. He’s not either. There’s a beauty in that.
I’ve been busy working the past week, so I’m taking a brief hiatus from Thursday updates here. In March, I’ll update every other week with a focus on craft and process (as has been happening anyway). This will mean website updates and time to edit what I’ve been writing.
But, I’ll leave you with a writing prompt.
Remember an object you associate with loss. Tell the story through the object’s point of view.
See you in March.
